Caught bits and pieces of the debate last night.  John McCain is such an enigma.  I listen to him in that setting and he really seems to have his stuff together.  I find myself thinking, “Man, if he could get himself back in the game I might give him another look.”  On the other hand this is the guy who gave us McCain-Feingold and that band of bi-partisan brothers thing a few years back.

And sheesh if every other man on that stage wasn’t bending over backwards to kiss his a**!  Are they just trying to gain some military street cred or is this guy a potential running mate?  Either way … lame and improbable.

Ron Paul continues to do the Democratic Party proud.

Mitt Romney continues to say just what he’s calculated that people want to hear … or so it seems.

Duncan Hunter continues to be “Is He Still Here?” or “Who’s that?”

Fred Thompson continues nothing.  Decision time.  In or out.  Any advantage he might have gained be staying out of the fray is expiring.  Sadly.  I wish they all could have held off for a few more months.

And Newt Gingrich continues to be, probably, the best player not in the game.
